What is the difference between FEU and DHI?

Hair loss can be a stressful experience for many people and can have huge effects on self esteem and confidence. Fortunately, there have been substantial advances in hair transplantation in the last few years, and there are now multiple methods to restore your hair density and confidence. Two well-known strategies in hair transplantation are hair follicle extraction units (FEU) and direct hair transplantation (DHI).

FEU (follicle extraction unit):

1. What is FEU?  FEU, also known as Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), is a hair transplantation method that harvests hair follicles from a donor area of the scalp.

2. How does FEU work?
The hair follicle is removed using a small punch tool that removes individual sections of the hair follicle containing one to four hairs.  These hair follicles are transplanted into small incisions made in the recipient area of the scalp.

3. Advantages of FEU:

Minimal scarring: Because FEU does not require a straight incision,  scarring at the donor site is significantly less noticeable. Faster Healing: No sutures at the donor site allows for faster recovery compared to standard strip harvesting strategies.

DHI (Direct Hair Transplant):

1. What is DHI? DHI (Direct Hair Transplant) is a special form of hair transplantation in which hair follicles are transplanted directly into the recipient area of the scalp.

2. How does DHI work?
Hair follicles are removed one by one using a special instrument with a small diameter.  These hair follicles are transplanted directly into the recipient area using a Choi pen or implanter pen, allowing for targeted control of strength and direction.

3. Advantages of DHI:

Minimally invasive: DHI is promoted as a minimally invasive technique that definitely shortens recovery time. Natural-looking results: The specific movements of the Choi pen allow the transplanted hair follicles to develop in a natural direction, improving the overall aesthetic result.
